When I was at primary school Ascension day was a holiday. There were four of us, including the priest, celebrating the Eucharist at All Saints, Feering this morning. Meanwhile Clare and Robin were, appropriately, floating in a hot air balloon over the Essex countryside.
Aubrey Moody was the long time incumbent of All Saints who owned Constable's altarpiece The Ascension painted in 1822. The original is now at Dedham but an excellent copy can be seen at Feering
